Acronym for the English expression "Liquid Crystal Display", leading to "LCD".
Description:
LCDs use liquid crystals, which under the influence of an electric current passing a transparent state to a polarizing (opaque making under certain conditions).
Long been used in many objects of everyday life (calculators, watches,
phones ...) to its very low power consumption, this technology was
perfected by the TFT technology, as to be poised to relegate the CRT
among the antiques. The first TFT - LCDs have reserved summers, due to their high cost of production, only laptops.
It was then divided into two categories, active matrix screens, good quality but very expensive, and passive-matrix displays, cheaper but having a slow response time.
The TFT-LCD Active Matrix parlormaid become the norm and prices continue to fall. The generalization of the flat screen computer and the development of flat screen televisions suggest that it will soon replace our screens totally catafalques tubes.
